Rescued Baby Squirrel Gliders Become Best Friends

Sometimes, having a big heart and trying to help really makes a difference in some creatures' lives. That's what we've learned from this story of two baby squirrel gliders, both of whom were rescued days apart by citizens just like any of us. The male was found at the base of some tree, but the female was found inside of a cat's mouth. Now, the two of them are together, and they seem to have fallen in love.

20 years ago, the Burmese roofed turtle was presumed extinct, but today, we have some good news! This huge Asian river turtle, whose face seems to be set with a permanent smile, has been saved from extinction by a group of scientists. After accidentally coming across a few of these turtles, these scientists, over the years, have managed to grow the population of these turtles to 1000 and counting, with some of the turtles even released back into the wild.

Kitten With Broken Jaw Saved Thanks To A Creative Use Of Buttons

Three weeks ago, an adorable 5-week-old kitten was brought into Albuquerque Animal Welfare for emergency surgery with her face and jaw crushed. The kitten - Mittens - had to go through multiple surgeries, but unfortunately, in the beginning, they weren't enough. Since multiple surgeries were too expensive for the shelter to cover, the veterinarians that were treating Mittens offered to do the rest of the treatment for free and, in the process, came up with a new, innovative way to help Mittens, using... buttons.

Tiger Cub Smuggled Three Years Ago Is Now Living Happily In Its Forever Home

A terrifying story with a happy ending. Three years ago, a six week old Bengal tiger cub was rescued from a wildlife trafficking attempt at a San Diego area border crossing. Today, the fully grown tiger, Moka, is living happily with another rescued tiger named Nola.

Moka was discovered in the floorboard of a sports car driven by an 18-year-old man who was attempting to smuggle the tiger from Tijuana through the U.S.-Mexico border. As reported by the San Diego Zoo Global Wildlife Conservancy and Border Report, the passenger under whose legs the cub was hidden had at first said that it was "just a cat." The driver, Luis Valencia, when questioned, claimed that he had bought the tiger in Tijuana after seeing someone walking it on a leash and wanted to keep it as a pet. Later, of course, it was discovered that both statements were false, and Luis was sentenced to six months in prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy charges.

The cub was taken to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park and had a surgery that saved his life. At the time, his weight was less than that of the average house cat - just 6 pounds. His name, Moka, means "chance" in Bengali and was given to him as a way of commemorating the story of his discovery. There, he got to meet Rakan, "a Sumartan tiger cub whose mother was unable to care for him," and together they grew up, played, wrestled, and pounced, becoming stronger and happier.

After a few months of care, still only a few months old, Moka was moved into an animal sanctuary called Lions, Tigers & Bears east of San Diego where he met Nola from Louisiana - another now fully grown tiger who was rescued as a cub.

The founder and director of Lions, Tigers & bears, Bobbi Brink, told Border Report that "[Moka and Nola] were both the same age, so they made great roommates, now they're best of friends," as well as that "[h]e's kind of shy but Nola is his strength. She'll be the first one to go out and check out something then slowly but surely he'll be right behind her," and no ending could make us happier.

Take a look at pictures of Moka from three years ago, over the first three months at the safari (with Rakan!) and today below.

Woman Treats Cat's Fungal Infection With Turmeric, Ends Up Looking Like Pikachu

Turmeric is an excellent spice and can (and should) be thrown into most dishes. It's a spice that's been used in India for thousands of years and has so many benefits to it. Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory, can be used for all sorts of conditions that involve pain, high cholesterol, itching, and even cosmetics!

Not that anyone should eat cosmetics. However, turmerics active compounds in skincare is quite effective since the natural spice is an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and even has anti-aging activity.

Seriously, turmeric is an amazing spice and should be in one's diet often.

Another thing about turmeric is that is has a very strong yellow color. In fact, it's the spice that gives curry it's iconic yellow color!

One Thai woman, named Supamas, was worried about her cat, Ka-Pwong. Ka-Pwong had a fungal infection that didn't seem to be getting any better. Supamas reached out to her mother for advice and was suggested to try turmeric. Makes sense, right? It's a natural spice with many healing properties. Supamas began to apply turmeric all over her cat, to ensure the fungal infection leaves completely.

Turns out it worked! It just came at a price. Supamas had accidentally stained her once white cat a very vibrant yellow. And the only problem is... the yellow won't wash out. People were quick to point out that Ka-Pwong now resembles Pikachu.

Don't be worried though. the turmeric has definitely helped Ka-Pwong from itching and licking the infected area. You can see in photos below just how much turmeric actually helped. And eventually, the color will fade. It'll take time, though.

In the end, Ka-Pwong is healthy and happy, that's all that matters! You can follow Ka-Pwong's journey on Facebook

Man Reunites With Lost Cat When Searching For A New Cat At Shelter

What a happy ending!

Theron had thought he had lost his beautiful cat named Cutie Pie. Heartbroken, he made the trip to Bangor Humane Society, an animal shelter in Maine, in search of a new cat to heal his heart.

Upon searching through the kennels, he stopped. A cat that looked just like his Cutie Pie. He examined the cat a little more closely and then the cat turned to face Theron. It was in that moment that Theron erupted in joy because that cat staring back at him was his one and only Cutie Pie.

And to prove it, Theron showed the staff at the shelter countless pics of Cutie Pie on his phone. After the staff saw the photos, there was no question about it!

Cutie Pie and Theron were reunited and the staff wrote in a Facebook post, "Let me just say I've honestly never seen a cat so eager to be in a cat carrier! He was SO ready to go home!"

We're so incredibly happy for Theron and Cutie Pie! And another important reminder to all pet owners out there -- please microchip your pets! It could save you a lot of heartache.

Actor Dennis Quaid Adopts Cat Named Dennis Quaid

Honestly, could there be a more perfect adoption story out there?

Lynchburg Humane Society had a black cat in need of a forever home. This cat was named Dennis Quaid. Well, the news of Dennis Quaid reached none other than the actor Dennis Quaid himself. "It was really off the wall, but I just couldn't resist. I had to," Dennis Quaid told WSLS 10 News, "I'm out to save all the Dennis Quaids of the world."

Danielle Ulmer, Adoption Center Manager at Lynchburg Humane Society couldn't believe when she heard the news, "I was like there is no way this is real, like, someone is pranking us."

Jimmy Jellinek, co-host of The Pet Show, convinced Danielle Ulmer that this was real and soon enough, a Zoom call was made where Dennis Quaid got to meet Dennis Quaid. And vice versa.

"Maybe they should start naming animals in shelters after different celebrities and see who bites," Quaid joked. However, it's not a bad idea! And it looks like from the adoptable faces below, they're already taking Quaid up on his advice!

Cat Goes "Missing" Until They Noticed Her In The Tree Outside

Cats go missing all the time. Heck, mine disappears about 12 times a day and that's within the confinements of the apartment!

Another obvious thing cats really enjoy is climbing.

Climbing. Literally. Anything. If it's climbable, your cat will be all over it. If it's not climbable, your cat will be all over it.

It's just what they do. What you rarely see, however, is a cat holding onto a tree branch... Cats are usually such elegant creatures. It's quite silly to see them in a position that showcases the opposite of that.

Don't worry too much, though, the owner has confirmed below that the cat landed safely and (if you can believe it) elegantly.

Snake-Bitten Mini Horse Named Teaspoon Can Walk Again Thanks To Wheelchair

This poor mini-horse has had a real tough start to life, at just 5-months-old.

Teaspoon, was sadly left disabled after being bitten by a snake in her back leg. The leg soon became necrotic and needed to be amputated. Teaspoon's former owners soon realized they wouldn't be able to provide the attention and extra care she needed following the operation.

Panda Paws Rescue came to the rescue! With additional help from the New Jersey-based animal farm rescue Goats of Anarchy, the two rescues came together to carefully transport Teaspoon from Louisiana to her new home at Goats of Anarchy, which is a farm that is focused on caring for special need animals.

And when Walkin' Pets heard about Teaspoon's five months of hardship, they also wanted to help. Thanks to the parts they donated, the first-ever Walkin' Wheels wheelchair built for a horse was created! And additional thanks for the wheelchair frame donated by Panda Paws.

Thanks to all these incredible people who came together -- Teaspoon can now walk!

Her journey so far as been documented on Goats of Anarchy's Instagram page:

Spanish Town Reports Loose Lion, Turns Out To Be A Big Dog

Here's a strange story.

In the Spanish town of Molina de Segura, police got an unusual call about a wildcat on the loose. Imagine their surprise when they realize that the animal in question was no lion at all, just a really big dog, with an odd haircut.

When the arrived on scene, the police were about to detain the animal (not realizing yet that it was in fact a canine) and scan for a microchip, which revealed the truth.

Molina de Segura local police told HuffPost that officers were able to reunite the pooch with its owner. "We're investigating and waiting for some results," a spokesperson said in a message that has been translated to English. "We don't know the motive for shaving it that way. For now, there's no justifiable motive. We have to confirm the vaccines and documents are correct, but fortunately, the dog is fine."

Photographer Aditya Singh quit his job, left Delhi and moved to Sawai Madhopur city, in Rajasthan, just outside Ranthambore Tiger Reserve. He moved here in order to be closer to nature. His wife, Poonam Singh, opened a tourist resort there to earn their living. And over the past 20 years, the Singh's has bought roughly 35 acres of land which shares its boundary with Ranthambore tiger reserve and left it completely undisturbed.

Now, the land is flourishing as it's covered in a lush greenery and is frequented occupied by wild animals, including tigers, throughout the year.

What inspired this new way of living? Poonam Signh tells Quartz India, "My first sighting was a tigress with three cubs on a hill. It was magical. At the end of the trip, I just asked him if we can move to Ranthambore. He wanted it, too, and within months we moved. As far as this land is concerned, it was a dream that we both saw and achieved together to have our own area of wilderness."

The future goal? To continue buying more land to expand the forest even further, and to inspire others to follow suit.

How incredible is that? The Singh's are our heroes!
