Pictures Worth More Than 1000 Words (26 images)

Another week, another much needed dose of inspiration - all in the form of the most interesting animal pictures we could find, each of which is worth no less than 1000 words. Because we love nothing more than some precious animals, and nothing is more inspiring than pictures of our favorite animals in some strange, strange situations.

Sometimes, words are just not necessary to enjoy art, and other times, no number of words is enough. Cats and dogs to koalas and caterpillars, something in here is bound to inspire you to make up stories of your own. We know it makes our imaginations go off, and even if you're not in the mood to create today, cool animal pictures are always something good to have on hand wink.

Almost Wiped Out By Bushfires, World's Smallest Possum Discovered

After the horrendous bushfires in Australia that burnt almost half of the island, killing a significant number of wild animals, we finally have some good news! As reported by ABC news, in the recovery efforts, the conservation group Kangaroo Island Land for Wildlife found a tiny creature that they feared might have been wiped out by the fires - the world's tiniest possum, the pygmy possum.

These tiny guys who weigh no more than 7 grams and who can easily sit on top of your finger are found in very few places in the world - that is, if you can find them at all. Their size not only makes them hard to study, it also makes them quite elusive little beings.

Pat Hodgens, a Fauna ecologist, said that the little possums' discovery is really exciting, and we agree! "There's only really been 113 formal records of the species [ever on Kangaroo Island]," he told ABC news. "So certainly not very common and, obviously, the summer bushfires burnt through much of that habitat that species had, but we were certainly hopeful that we would find them."

Their conservation group is going "to try to do everything we can to protect them to ensure that they hang around during this pretty critical time". He added: "It's very important now because it is kind of like the last refuge for a lot of these species that really rely on very old long, unburned vegetation."

There are still many other rare species who have not been spotted after the fires, but this is wonderful news, and we wish Mr. Hodgens and all the other people doing amazing work luck with finding all the species they're looking for. And sometimes, in Australia, people manage to find species they weren't look for

Puppy Abandoned And Chained To Bench With Note Gets Adopted

This adorable seven-month-old puppy was abandoned on a park bench and though the start of his story is not the greatest, the ending is as positive as it gets with the puppy getting adopted and finding its new forever home!

PEOPLE reports that Marcela Goldberg, who runs local shelter Mascotas Coyoacá in Mexico, heard about the dog and his story and drove out to find the dog tied to a bench with a note next to it. The note said the following: "It hurts a lot to leave my dog here but I made the decision of leaving him because my family used to mistreat him and it would always hurt me to see him in that condition... If you're reading this and your heart wavers, please adopt him and take good care of him. If not, please leave this note in its place. That way others can read it and adopt him. Thank you."

Read the original note and more about the puppy named Boston below!

Australian Family Discovers A Koala Chilling On Their Christmas Tree

We're calling it the greatest Christmas gift ever! One lucky family in Australia had quite the unexpected visitor this holiday season, all thanks to one unusually large and furry ornament hanging from their Christmas tree - a real-life koala!

The McCormick family discovered the koala tangled in the lights and the plastic branches of the tree last Wednesday, Amanda McCormick shared in a Facebook post, "Well that's something you don't see every day... we just came home to a real-life koala up our Xmas tree in our lounge room!"

McCormick told The Guardian how she believes the koala found its way into their home and tree, "must have crawled in when the doors were open. It would have been in our house for at least three hours."

So, what do you do when you happen to find a koala in your Christmas tree? The family called the local Adelaide and Hills Koala Rescue, and when the rescue first heard their story, they thought it was a prank call. Adelaide and Hills Koala Rescue wrote on Instagram, "But no, a koala desperate to get in the Christmas spirit had wandered into Amanda McCormick's house and decided it wanted to be the fairy on the Christmas tree. Tis the season to be jolly... Koalalalala Lalalala."

And this past Friday, McCormick's daughter shared a video of the koala on TikTok which has since gone viral because let's face it -- a koala in your Christmas tree is pretty darn special!

Rapper Quits His Music Career To Launch A Cat Rescue

Taking a break from his rap tour and looking to stay busy, Sterling Davis, better known as "TrapKing", applied for a job at the Atlanta county shelter scooping kitty litter. His interview probably went about as well as any of ours would have. "I did horrible in the interview because they had cats in the room and I was playing with all the cats, kissing all the cats," Davis told TODAY. Luckily though, despite basically not answering any of the questions he got, he managed to get the job.

"We're not seeing people like you with cats," Davis's interviewer told him. And so he started working at the shelter, helping employees there with trap-neuter-return cases, and had worked there for a few years. During that time, Davis ended up realizing something else. "At the county shelter, there were no men and no Black people that worked in the cat department," he explained to TODAY. "When I would go out and do TNR with all my friends, it would be all women — that's who trained me. I finally asked the difficult question: 'Where are all the guys and where are all the Black people?''

That's when David decided that the tour is going to have to wait, and that little kitty cats are his new priority. And today, he is running his own nonprofit cat rescue called TrapKing Humane Cat Solutions

Heroes Of The Month: Celebrating Rescued Animals And Their Rescuers (November 2020)

Or tiny little animal friends have a tendency of getting themselves into trouble all the time. Pet owners and pet lovers alike know that. And though normally, it's little things like your cat getting its nail stuck in the curtains or your dogs getting its nose stuck somewhere because puepper just had to try to get that fly, sometimes, things get a lot more dangerous than that, and we have situations where animals truly need us to come to their rescue.

Every single month, we cover as many stories as we can about these heroes- the people who put everything aside to save the little animals who've gotten themselves a bit too deep into the mud. And every single month, happily, there are too many stories to cover, so we make this little list for everyone, so that we can all give the most deserved appreciation to these heroes.

Giant Panda Cub Gets Named And Its A True 'Little Miracle'

We've an update about one of the most positive stories to come out of 2020, and the update is just as wholesome as the original story. The (tiny) giant panda cub that was born at the Smithsonian's National Zoo three weeks ago has finally gotten a name, and it is the most appropriate and cutest name of all. Xiao Qi Ji is his name in Chinese, but it translates to 'little miracle' in English.

The little giant panda has gone absolutely viral in the past couple of weeks after a video of his miraculous birth was released by the zoo, and since the world fell in love with the cub, the zoo decided to let the world participate in naming him. Of course, the internet does not disappoint when it comes to baby animals.

We were given a choice of 4 names, and after three weeks and nearly 135,000 votes that have been cast, the adorable name 'little miracle' was chosen. The long waiting period was not an accident, it is part of Chinese tradition to wait 100 days before naming the cub. We wish the little cub luck and prosperity, and for his mother, Mei Xiang, to have many more adorable healthy cubs in the future!

Tumblr Thread: Gentleman Rooster Always Lets Lady Friends Eat First

Well, today, we are looking at an unlikely tumblr story by the tumblr user samandriel. One that we feel could easily be made into a Disney movie. It's the story of Pharaoh, a pet rooster who is a little funny.

He has the habit of crowing not when the sun rises but rather when he hears humans get up. And he's an absolute gentleman, always letting his many lady hen friends eat snacks first. Unless it's blueberries. Blueberries are serious business. His worst fear is plastic bags, but he will protect his owner from them. And he loves - absolutely loves - cuddles.

Tumblr stories are always some of our favorites, since they can be funny, wholesome, or totally random, and this one is up there with some of our absolute favorites.

14-Year-Old Cat Finds Purrfect Companion To Share Golden Years With

A match made in heaven! Earlier this year, a friendly 14-year-old gray cat, originally named LL Cool J, was brought into the Anne Arundel County Animal Care and Control in Maryland. The shelter arranged a foster home for this gentle cat so he could live comfortably until the right person came along.

Little did anyone know, the person who would come along would be the absolute purrfect match and that they would both need each other.

Kitten Found Frozen To Truck Tire Adopted By Man Who Saved It

Found in below freezing temperatures last month, Xerxes the kitten has officially been adopted by the good man who saved her! She was only five-weeks-old then, hanging off the side of one of the truck tires, with her tail and paws completely frozen to the metal surface, trapping her. 9NEWS reports that to free the kitten without causing her additional pain, the man who found her splashed warm water on the areas of the tire to which her pas and tail were stuck, gently removing her paws and tail from the tire.

The man brought the kitten to the Denver Dumb Friends League (DDFL), wrapped up in tiny blankets to keep her warm, where she received the care she needed as well as the name Xerxes. On Monday, after recovering, she has officially been adopted into the forever home of the man who saved her. "Before her adoption, Xerxes spent time in a foster home where her frostbitten paws recovered, and her initially frightened exterior began to crumble," DDFL recounted. "Healed and healthy, Xerxes is settling in with her new family."

They add that, without the help of the man who saved her, the kitten would have most likely not survived through the night. So, we can only be thankful, encourage others to help the little creatures in need that they come across, and thank every savior we hear about for doing the right thing.

Pictures Worth More Than 1000 Words (30 images)

Another week, another dose of inspiration for all who need it. Because some pictures are just impossible to describe in anything less than 1000 words, and so looking at them has our imagination running wild and our creativity exploding. They make us wanna write, they make us wanna paint, and they definitely make us want to go pet a cheetah.

So, enjoy this week's collection of inspiring animals and go write that novel you've been putting off writing. Just make sure that you have at least one animal in that novel - possibly a cheetah because why not - and that that animal gets snacks and pets and all the love in the world.

Tiny Owl Rescued From Christmas Tree Is Set Free

A story truly fitting the Christmas cheer. A tiny little owl was found inside of a Christmas tree. Yup. Inside of the iconic Rockefeller Christmas tree, workers discovered the tiny owl "clinging for its life to the 75-foot-tall Norway spruce". After surviving a 200 mile journey from Oneonta to Manhattan, the owl was found as the crews that were about to erect the tree were unwrapping it.

The New York Post reports that strangely, though the bird is tiny and looks like a baby owlet, since owls are born in the spring, it was immediately understood that this owl is not actually a baby. She is a northern saw-whet, a bird that only grows to about 5 inches tall and 2 to 3 ounces in weight. "I thought it was such a heartwarming Christmas story, that there was this secret in the Christmas tree," said Ellen Kalish, the director and founder of Ravensbeard Wildlife Center in New York.

Workers at the Rockefeller Center, after the New York Post reached out for a comment, said: "We inspect each branch of the tree individually before it's wrapped, but birds sometimes can find their way into it on the journey." For three whole days, the owl didn't have any food or water, but once in the hands of Kalish, she got all the mice she wanted.

Today, in an update to the story, we found out that the little birdy has been set free at last to its natural habitat to continue her migratory journey. And though her journey was harrowing and incredibly long, she's gotten herself a little Christmas miracle in not only being found and rescued but also in making a full recovery and getting to continue her life in the wild as she was meant to.

Check out pictures of the owl and her release below. And for another story of an incredibly feisty owl with singed wings getting rescued from a fire, click right here
