It started with a woman taking this adorable obese doggo into her home, wanting to give her a chance and take care of her, help her lose weight and get healthier. And after a year and a half as well as one of the most successful pet weight loss journeys we've ever seen, the story ended with the same amazing woman being won over and adopting the pup.

Never have you seen a dog happier to do the most basic dog things - since because of her weight, she couldn't even scratch her own ear before. She's now the happiest doggo, and we can't help but be happy watching her jump around in the new forever home

Abused Cat Gets Adopted And Has Successful Surgery To Fix Broken Leg (Viral Thread)

There's absolutely nothing worst than hearing a story about cruel abuse of pets, so when an unfortunate pet like that gets adopted and taken care of, we are all the more grateful. Everyone, say hi to Sweet Potato, a previously abused sweetheart who got adopted by a new veterinarian mom, went through surgery bravely like the hero he is, and got his broken leg fixed. And deservedly went viral on top of it all.

We want to thank thecomfycat for sharing the story of Sweet Potato and for taking care of the little guy. We hope that he will have an easy and quick recovery after the surgery and that he will be happy with you for a long, long time

Tumblr Thread: Feral Cat Invited Herself In And Never Left

Cats, being relatives of some of the most dangerous creatures on the planet, had to have gotten to the point of being house kitties somehow. Self-domestication seems to have been the way they did it- coming in and deciding that it's better to get pampered by these puny humans than to go through the hardships outside alone. And apparently, this act of domesticating oneself is not a thing of the past.

Everyone, say hi to Ghost, the cat who was born into a feral cat colony, walked into tchaikovsgay's life (and house) one day and simply never left. She's adorable, she had the cutest toof, she loves belly rubs, and we are probably almost as happy as she is for having found her forever home.

tumblr thread about a cat domesticating herself thumbnail includes two pictures including one of a grey cat snuggling on a person and another of a grey cat bleping 'Organism - tchaikovsgay Follow can y'all believe my cat domesticated herself? how wild is that. she was born in a feral cat colony and was like “fuck this shit, I want to be pampered", invited herself inside and never left. now she gets chicken stuck to her lips and screams till I give her belly scratchies'

Warm Stories Of Cats Adopting Humans

Most times, you decide you're ready for a pet and that it's time to go out and finally get one. You prepare, you think of what you want, you look at pictures and learn, and then you hope that the one you choose will be happy to be with you. But other times... you don't get to choose. Sometimes, it's the pets that choose you

The little stories you're about to read are so heartwarming they'll make you melt. Thank you to imgur user Rammsteinstochter for collecting them. "Heartless" and "unfeeling" cats choosing the humans that they want to keep for themselves. "This one," the cats say. "I think this one is cute enough... and will give me food."

If you have any heart-meltingly cute stories of your own to share, come tell us about them in our Facebook group: ICanHas Storytime.

"This random cat came in when I was just getting inside the house, following me up to my apartment. I gave her some milk and now she won't leave. I guess she's my cat now."'

Terrified Kitten Falls In Love With New Adoptive Family (Viral Thread)

Special needs cats are always a challenge to take care of. But for beautiful and terrified cats like Kyrie, finding a forever home is an extra challenge. As adrianontherocks, feline behaviorist imgur user, explains: a lot of times, with pretty cats such as these, the adopters will take them without being ready for the challenges ahead and return them not a month later.

Luckily, Kyrie found the forever home he deserves. Not only that but ended up totally falling in love with his new adoptive family, and he even became best friends with the family dog! No ending could have been better, and we are overjoyed to hear about it and are thankful to adrianontherocks for not only taking care of Kyrie but also sharing his story!

viral imgur thread about a cat with behavioral issues getting adopted thumbnail includes two pictures including a kitten and another of a cat and a dog cuddling '"Gorgeous cats like Kyrie get a LOT of attention and people tend to... say they’re okay with the behavior problems and then return the cat a week later because they aren’t perfect... Well, we hit the jackpot for Kyrie." - adrianontherocks'

Previously Abused Dog Saves New Owner, Dragging Her Away From Oncoming Car

Meet Sorsha, a hero that we are all going to be celebrating. She's a rescued dog who was cruelly shot by her previous owner, got adopted into the most loving forever home and, later in life, turned into a guide dog. Then, she outdid even herself by becoming an actual hero and saving her owner's life.

After her owner fell on an icy road, the amazing dog ran in front of an oncoming car, grabbed her leash in her mouth and physically dragged her owner away from the path of the car, having never been trained for it.

We would like to thank Melissa Amos, one of ICanHasCheezburger's animal loving users for sharing her and Sorsha's stories with us. Continue reading her incredibly story and giving love to Sorsha below, and if you have your own stories to share, come tell us about them in our Facebook group: ICanHas Storytime.

Badly injured in his eye and scared of humans, this adorable pooch finally got the break that he deserved. It took him days of doing nothing but sleep to get used to his new space, but eventually, he realized that he's safe.

He has been taken in by people so caring who spent their time nursing him back to health, another dog who helped bring him out of his shell, and eventually, those same people found him the kind of forever home that makes him the happiest in the world. So happy, he runs toward them and non-stop wiggles in their arms. It's a happy-ending story that'll make anyone who sees it happy!

Cheezburger Users Share Heartwarming Senior Pet Adoption Stories

It's true that every single adoption needs to be celebrated - taking the time to take care of any animal, giving it the love and support it needs. It is also true that there is something extra special about adopting senior pets

Taking in a senior even though you know that they won't live as long is emotionally challenging. Yet, making that decision and deciding to give all your love to a less fortunate pet is something that we should not only be celebrating but also something that we should be grateful for, because not everyone can take a pet like that on.

When our amazing ICanHasCheezburger users decided to share with us their stories of senior pet adoptions, we knew that saying thank you to them would only be right. And if you have some of your own stories, come share them in our new Facebook community - ICanHas Storytime

stories of adopting senior pets thumbnail includes one faceboook comment 'Text - Alison Edwards Nearly 3 years ago we took in a 10 year old cat who's owners were going to have put to sleep as they were fed up with him. He was partially blind and deaf when we got him and has since developed cat dementia but he's happy and my nose boop buddy. I love him to pieces. People Tweet About Changing Their Minds And Adopting A Senior Pet At The Last Second

Most people, when going to adopt a pet, tend to go for the little ones- the baby kittens and puppies who they'll get to raise into their families. And of course, while every adoption and every rescue is to be celebrated, it's important to remember to adopt senior and sick pets too. And sometimes, it happens that this understanding comes to you as you're already in the shelter, about to pick up your tiny new baby, and then an older one-eyes cat looks at you, and finds its way right into your soul.

A tweet sharing a story like that went viral, and other twitter users with similar stories chimed in, sharing their own stories of last minute changes to adoption plans- ones that ended with them picking up the less fortunate animals and giving them a warm home too.

So, bring in the tissues and let your heart warm with joy.

What would you do if a hungry adorable doggo showed up on your doorstep one day? It isn't an easy decision, especially when you have other pets in the house. But this couple did the best they could do, slowly and gently getting closer to the dog, giving it treats and pets, taking it into their home, alongside their two dogs, and making sure that this pooch got the love that he deserved.

It took him a while to allow the humans to love him, but eventually, this cutie's tail started wagging, and he started playing with the two other dogs, and our hearts were filled with joy. Most importantly, this couple made sure to find the right forever home for this adorable doggo, and we're thankful for all their incredible work.
