Chester Zoo has some adorable new residents. The three hyrax pups were born there in July and they're as cute as newborn fur babies come. 

Bats are widely misunderstood creatures in the animal kingdom - while they're associated with witches, vampires and darkness in general, they're actually super cute and interesting. And scientists have just discovered something amazing about them - bats use leaves as "mirrors" that reflect sound waves, helping them find insects hiding behind leaves. Cool, right? Or confusing? Penguins aren't exactly formidable creatures, are they? Although Emperor penguins can reach up to 4 feet 2 inches, they always seem super friendly and cute. Now imagine a penguin the same height as you. That changes things. Penguins the size of humans... the idea sounds like it comes from science fiction. But it actually just comes from science. It was recently discovered that giant penguins used to exist. We are not kidding. 

Remember the 101 Dalmatians film? After watching that as a child, I would fantasize about rolling around in a pile of puppies as they frolicked around me. Sounds like a fantasy, right? Well a woman in Australia is living this dream after her pet dalmatian gave birth to 19 puppies, breaking the world record for the number of puppies born in one litter. And the pictures are ridiculously cute.

You've probably heard that the rules concerning emotional support animals on airplanes are changing, after a few incidents including a hamster flushed down the toilet, a VIP turkey and a few dog bites. Now, all animals except for dogs, cats and miniature horses are banned from flying. Yep, you heard me right: miniature horses. Red pandas are adorable (even more so when they stand on their hind legs in the cutest defense mechanism ever). And no, they are not red-colored pandas (I know you're imagining that right now). A little floof has just been born at Idaho Zoo - the first ever red panda to be born there. As you can imagine, everyone is pretty excited about it. 

What do you do when you live in a town with a name meaning 'goat town' and have a lot of goats? You have a goat beauty contest, of course! That's what these people in Ukraine did, and it sure is a sight to see. There are a few things you have to see in life before you die, and this is one of them. 

Turtles are amazing animals. They can be traced back to the time of dinosaurs, they usually live around 70 years (tortoises reach around 150 or more years), and they're super cute. Sadly, as human development reaches the quietest of beaches, some turtle hatchlings are having trouble finding the ocean because of the confusing lights. But it's not all bad news! It's official now: the world has started to get a bit whacky. We have been seeing hints of this for a while, as feral hogs took over the minds of innocent Twitter denizens; I don't think Trump has been doing much to help the situation; and surely this 50 meter long penis near Geelong, Australia isn't normal (what's going on Australia?). My point is, weird things are happening. And they got even weirder when a video emerged of a mob of kangaroos hopping around on the snow. Wait - what? Snow? Australia? Kangaroos? How many of us wash our clothes by hand? Scratch that - how many of us have ever washed our clothes by hand? I'm betting that the answer is close to zero (especially if you're a millennial). Judging by the fact that you're reading this now, you've probably got access to utilities more necessary than the internet, i.e. a washing machine. So what's the big deal? The big deal is that there's a monkey in India that can wash clothes way better than you can. And monkeys don't even wear clothes (well, not naturally). How does that make you feel? 

Humans have interrupted a lot of natural processes. Highways divide forests, and dams interrupt the migration routes for fish. But that isn't to say that we haven't found solutions to some of the problems that we created. Wildlife bridges have been built over highways allow animals to cross the highway safely. And in a recent Twitter storm, the public has rediscovered an amazing apparatus that scientists released in 2014 which helps salmon migrate. It is called the Salmon Cannon. And as you can imagine, everyone is obsessed with it. 

It's an exciting time for Skipper and Ping, two male Emperor penguins who live at the Berlin zoo. They have been longing for an egg of their own and now, they finally have one. This is by no means the only gay penguin - or animal - couple in the world, but that doesn't make their story any less special. Here it is.

In the past few years, there has been an unprecedented rise in people having 'emotional support animals', particularly when traveling on airplanes. While any step towards improving mental health is applauded, there have been many incidents involving emotional support animals on airplanes that really don't belong there. We can't blame these untrained animals for acting the way animals act, but we can question the laws that allow them on board. With new regulations from the US Department of Transport, things are about to change. We discuss these changes below, and whether they are for the better or the worse.
