Architects for Animals® "Giving Shelter" is a blessed awareness-raising initiative. 

The organization hires architectural and design firms, as well as individual architects and designers, who design and build creative outdoor shelters for stray animals. Every year, on their annual event, these shelters are put on display to the public and are then donated to organizations who work with needy animals. This innovative event is being attended every year by over 300 guests, cat-loving celebs and media representatives. Check out some of the remarkable designs that were on display in the last event held two months ago. 

In Istanbul, Turkey, swarms of cats follow you wherever you go. This is because cats are very much respected in this predominantly Muslim society. Islamic tale tells of a cat thwarting a poisonous snake that had approached the Prophet, Muhammad. In another tale, the prophet found his cat sleeping on the edge of his vest. Instead of shifting the cat, the prophet cut off the portion of the vest that was free and wore it without disturbing the pet. Many places around the world are trying to combat the massive problem of homeless pets, especially cats and dogs, mostly by campaigns encouraging owners to spay and neuter their pets without hesitation. But this time we bring you the incredible story of the northern province of Samsun, Turkey, where they came up with a much more creative and inspiring solution- building a "Cat Town". 

Japanese Photographer, Nyankichi Rojiupa, doesn't have any cats of his own, but he is fascinated by these enigmatic creatures. So when he stumbled upon a group of strays in the city, he decided to stick around ,watch and take amazing photos. Check out his instagram page for more.    

Outside cat or indoor cat, felines always come and go as they please, and as devout cat loving citizens the residence of Bern, Switzerland have decided to help their furry friends move about more easily – by building cat ladders. These sometime hand-made, sometimes purchased ladders vary in shape, size, and function, but their primary purpose is to let wandering cats climb up, relax, and enjoy the view. Some even lead into people's windows to out furry feline friends can sit in the frames and enjoy the view. Swiss graphic designer and writer Brigitte Schuster decided to base her fourth book ('Swiss Cat Ladders') on analysing this act of kindness that drew the people of Bern and their cats closer together. The photo-forward book, which is bilingual in English and German, also includes diagrams and explorations of the broader cultural meaning of the ladders. Some 80 applicants applied for the new role with the municipality in the small Kaliningrad town, which has also erected a cat statue and added a feline to its emblem in a bid to rebrand itself as Russia's foremost cat-loving community.
