The West Highland Terrier is a Scottish breed of dog with a recorded history that dates back as early as during the reign of James I of England (VI of Scotland), who reigned between 1567 and 1625.

The Bearded Collie has over the years also been known as the "Highland Collie," the "Highland Sheepdog" and the "Hairy Moved Collie."
The Bearded Collie originated in Britain and is one of the country's oldest breeds. The foundation of the breed was started in 1514 when a Polish sea captain made a trade with local Scottish shepherds.
