Recently, we've been on a tiny animal kick, featuring the adorable dik-dik's, or how about those insanely cute Japanese dwarf flying squirrels? 

Well, we're continuing this cuteness run with another uncommonly known animal that deserves your attention: the long-eared jerboa! The long-eared jerboa is a rare nocturnal rodent that is very mouse-like. However, unlike a mouse, it has long hind legs (much like a kangaroo) and comically (and adorably) long ears. Oh, and it also has a miniature snout that resembles a pig. 

Be honest, have you ever seen a cuter mouse/rabbit/kangaroo/piglet mix? We didn't think so! 

Whatever your mood may be, we can always do with an added wholesome boost to lift the spirits! And there's no boost greater than one filled with animals. 

The very definition of wholesome is "promoting health or well-being of mind or spirit," and we can honestly say that what animal-related content does. Well, at least to us. Hopefully, you too. 

Get ready for some seriously smiles, you won't be able to hold it in after this delightful bunch of images! 

Have you ever look at an image and thought, "what the heck is happening in this photo?" Of course, you have, we're all human. 

Well, these images will leave you asking yourself that question and you will get absolutely no answers in return. These are images of cats with no context, which, somehow makes it more hilarious.

At least it does to us. 

Our hearts cannot commute this insane level of cute.

We can feel them bursting into a million pieces and melting into the floor. That's how we feel whenever see a photo such as the fallery of puppies below. What is it about them that makes us feel so gooey? Their smolness? Their smiles? Is it that purity that engulfs you whenever you look into their eyes? It's everything. They are just too good and we humans do not deserve them. 

Meet the talented Em Paquin, an animation student who desperately wanted a cat. We came across some of her lovely re-created digital paintings of popular cat images online and reached out to ask her to explain the meaning behind this project and the goal of painting 100 cats. 

Em explains that the project was originally titled, "Day __ of drawing cats until my parents let me adopt one." Em continues to reveal her longing for a cat of her own, "I wanted so desperately to adopt a cat, and being home for quarantine was the perfect time to introduce a new furball to the family. The only thing in my way was my parents who I've been living with, now that my college courses are online."

"These daily illustrations were a subtle way of voicing my wish to adopt a cat."

On day 21 of the project, Em brought home a new kitten named Beanie. However, Em realized how much she enjoyed drawing cats and wanted to push herself but taking it further, thus setting the goal of drawing 100 cats!

So, what will Em do the moment that goal is reached? Seeing as how she's already on Day 68, the 100th drawing isn't too far away. 

"After that goal is reached, they will probably continue, maybe for a year, or maybe I won't ever stop."

We come to realize, we all need a break from the media and constant negativity. It causes too much stress and leaves you feeling quite dim inside. That's why we like to balance it out in the best way we know-how.

They say that petting a cat helps relieve anxiety and worries. However, not everyone has a cat that allows that relief so that's why we're posting fifty images of cats. We believe that looking at photos of cats is just as calming as petting one. So, please take a moment to let go of any negative feelings and simply enjoy this collection of cat pics.

Lisa M. Ca has always had a love for birds. When she moved from Germany to Michigan to be with her husband she noticed the similarities in climate and the major differences in the varieties of birds.
