Celebrating The 120th Birthday Of The Oldest Known Nile Crocodile

Happy 120th  birthday to the oldest known Nile crocodile in captivity - Henry!

It truly is a rarity for these gorgeous crocodiles to get to 120 years of age, so, to celebrate, the Crocworld Conservation Centre on the KZN South Coast threw Henry the Nile crocodile a birthday party! Henry and the staff celebrated his birthday together, with the staff eating birthday cake, and Henry getting his favorite of all meaty snack.

The crocodile arrived at the Crocworld Conservation Centre in 1985 when he was at the young age of 85. Today, he is five meters long, 700 kilograms in weight, and he is the father of over 10,000 offspring with his six female cohabitants. So, one can easily say that getting older has definitely not slowed Henry down even one bit.

Being the oldest known Nile crocodile in captivity, Henry has got many, many more years of leisure, relaxations (and a good time with the ladies) in his wonderful sanctuary. On top of all of his other very impressive achievements, he has also been listed at the second oldest crocodile in the world, with the number 1 spot having been taken by Mr. Freshie who was 140 years when he passed in 140.

We wish Henry many more birthdays in the future, and may he break Mr. Freshie's record and live long beyond that as well.

Celebrating National 'Hug A Bear Day' With Adorable Bear Cub Pics

It's National Hug A Bear Day! And we here at Cheezburger are celebrating! Now, it's important to remember that you should actually go out and hug a bear. That is a bit dangerous at the end of the day, no matter how cute and cuddly bears may appear.

No, National Hug A Bear Day is actually a day that refers to teddy bears and is meant to celebrate hugging! Yeah, you heard right. On this day, you aren't supposed to go out and hug actual bears. The way to celebrate National Hug A Bear day is by hugging your teddy bear, or by hugging your friend's teddy bear, or giving a big ol' 'bear hug' to one of your friends or family members.

That doesn't mean that actual bears shouldn't be celebrated, of course, since bears are unbearably awesome. So, since we can't come give y'all bear hugs right now, as a compromise, we've decided to give you an adorable collection of some of the most teddy bear-like looking bear cubs instead.

Perhaps being cute is not as impressive a feat as riding a bike with no hands, but it's certainly a feat worth celebrating all the same.
