The South Philippine Dwarf Kingfisher was first discovered 130 years ago in 1890.
Since then, it's eluded scientists for over a hundred years because of how difficult it is to see and how is quietly darts from perch to perch, seemingly invisible.
In March 2020, a Filipino biologist, Miguel David De Leon, was able to capture the ultra-rare and mysterious bird.
Photographed for the first time in the history of mankind, presenting the South Philippine Dwarf Kingfisher!

It's crazy how far a little love can go.
Chataro's story starts off heartbreaking, "The first shot was taken 8 days after he arrived, during treatment for all kinds of skin infections and parasites. He eventually lost about 90% of his hair, but over the next few months he turned into the most wonderful long-haired puss.
All in all, he's a bit of a mess, but what a magnificent mess! I'm convinced his gold color goes all the way through to his heart, and that it rubs off on anyone who comes into contact with him."
But look how handsome this magnificent little house lion turned out! And word on the street, he's living his absolute best life!

Matt Wilson, the artist behind these extraordinary sculptures, is influenced by natural elements of the environment in which he lives.
He dives into his sculpture exploration on his website, "Using recycled and organic materials- scrap metal, reclaimed wood, bone, etc., my sculptures depict continuous life cycles that consciously and unconsciously permeate our awareness. The upcycled work I create is a testimony to the belief of conserving and appreciating our resources, so that the environment in which we live will continue to be an environment in which we desire to live.
My goal as an artist is to make artwork unlike art people have seen, while at the same time recognizable in the identity of everyday materials. I only hope the sculptures will inspire others to appreciate the simple, neglected items from which my creations are born."
We think Wilson achieved that goal with these mesmerizing pieces of art.
Prepare to be stunned.
