There's always some concern when it comes to leaving your baby with a cat. It's a fair thing to worry about since we know, as cat owners, that no matter how much our cat loves us, accidents happen, and sometimes we get scratched. Despite that, you might have noticed that cats have a tendency to want to be around a baby - smell it, sleep snuggled up next to it, lick its head. It might be because a lot of times babies smell like milk. It might be because cats are just curious creatures and babies are new and interesting additions to their homes. 

There's no obvious explanation for the care cats show to babies, but one thing that we do know is that it is omg so adorable. To show you just how sweet cats and babies can be together, we have gathered 24 pictures of just that to warm your heart and make your stomach flutter throughout the day.

The Santa Monica Mountains near Los Angeles is getting plenty of kitty attention this summer! According to the National Park Service, 13 kittens were born to 5 different mothers between May and August. 

It's the biggest mountain lion baby boom to occur in the past 18 years within such a short timeframe! National Park Service such a short period of time for the past 18 years! 

Jeff Sikich, a wildlife biologist, said in a previous statement, "This level of reproduction is a great thing to see, especially since half of our mountains burned almost two years ago during the Woolsey Fire."

When the story was shared on Twitter, a few users were wondering if this new kitten boom was in any way related to the pandemic and vanishing foot traffic. There's no way to know for sure but if so, we're glad to hear of another happy outcome from this year's madness.

Cats VS babies. We already know who will come out of this battle victorious, and something tells us you know so too.

A big congrats to San Diego Zoo and to the mother, Rosalita, who birthed two endangered ring-tailed lemurs on July 8, 2020. 

The twins, one male, and one female (yet to be named) went through the Zoo's veterinarian's quality wellness check, to make sure everything is fine (ie, nursing properly, gaining weight, etc).

 Both twins have yet to be named but are in good health and very loved by all, especially their mother. 

Yeleny Smith, wildlife care specialist at the San Diego Zoo knew Rosalita would be an excellent mother from the start, "She immediately exhibited all the appropriate behaviors of a lemur mom—being very attentive, grooming them, placing them in the appropriate nursing position, encouraging them to nurse and tending to their every need. These births are significant, as they allow us to continue to learn and share knowledge about this endangered lemur species."

What a sight it must be! According to San Diego Zoo, the 13-day-old twins are often seen "clinging to their mothers' belly" as she often nurses them and relaxes in the sun. 

Who else is currently looking up San Diego ticket prices to see these two precious babies? Both San Diego Zoo and San Diego Zoo Safari Park are open but with added safety and health protocols.
