Winners Of The 2020 Ocean Photography Awards Announced

The winners of the 2020 Ocean Photography Awards have been announced and we're in awe of the breathtaking photos of the world we don't see often - the world under the sea. Congratulations to all the winners and nominees, each photograph is simply superb.

Each year, Oceanographic magazine holds the Ocean Photography Awards in a celebration of "our beautiful blue planet, as well as a platform to highlight the many plights it is facing." Such as the difficult photographs of the Conservation Photographer award, images of incredible sea life being tormented by waste. It's heartbreaking to see but important to share and be aware of.

The photographer awards are open to everyone, from amateurs and professionals to everyone in-between. There are six categories and the overall winner which receives the title of 'Ocean Photographer of the Year.'

The awards were streamed live from an extended reality stage in London, UK, you can watch the awards on YouTube

We can't wait to see what remarkable photographs are waiting to be discovered next year!

2020 Comedy Wildlife Photography Award Finalists

2020 has been one rocky year but luckily, in the world of animals, it's never been better! Since the beginning of the pandemic, it was the Earth and animals that have benefited from the lack of us humans destroying the world.

And with the yearly competition, Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards, we're further able to celebrate the magic that is animals, majestic or not. The incredible photographers that have been selected for this year's finalists have really delivered some animal gems! The following photos, captured at the moment, are hysterical and show us all that we're not alone when it comes to looking funny when our photos are taken!

We were able to talk to Michelle, the head of Comedy Wildlife Photography Award's press office, and asked about the process of narrowing down so many wonderful photographs into the top finalists, she had this to say about the process, "... it is a brutal process. We started with over 7000 images - and whittled them down based on: level of humour, quality of photography, ability to get people's attention. It sounds relatively vague the last point, but we want to get our message of conservation across to as many people as possible, and the images must attract their attention!"

Well, these photographs selected definitely capture our attention!

The winners will be announced on October 22nd, but the following images are all winners in our eyes! Congrats to all the photographers who made it to the finals and thank you for sharing such imagery with us -- we all could use this fantastic pick-me-up!

The Hero Dog Awards were created to celebrate the powerful relationship between dogs and people and recognize extraordinary acts of heroism performed by ordinary dogs. The sold-out, star-studded awards honoring America's most courageous canines were hosted at the Beverly Hilton Hotel few days ago and following more than a million votes by the American public and the opinions of an expert panel of celebrity animal lovers and dog experts, "Chi Chi," a four-year-old Golden Retriever from Phoenix, Arizona has been named this year's most heroic dog, besting 265 other brave canines and capturing the top title of "American Hero Dog".

Chi Chi was the one chosen as 2018 American Hero Dog, but all seven finalists were winners in their categories, and we salute them for their courage, service and compassion. Here are their official nominations, as told by their handlers and owners.

You may remember the story of Tillie and his friend Phoebe, for a week the dogs were lost. During that time Phoebe was trapped in a cistern while Tillie stayed by her side and left only occasionally to try to find help. Now he's been honored as Washingtonian of the Day for the date of October 15, 2015.
