What happened to this poor widdle mouse's nose? Did someone stretch it out? Or maybe it isn't a mouse at all... help squeeps! What is this cute critter?

Squee lovers, today's whatsit is a feathertail glider baby, and it comes to us straight from the Taronga Zoo! Feathertail gliders are the world's smallest gliding animals, and believe it or not, this itty bitty feathertail baby is already too big for its mother's pouch!
Is this a giant, fluffy caterpillar? A tiny, legless llama? Some squeedorable hybrid? Will we ever know?

This mom and baby look nocturnal and suuuuper soft. What are they?
At first I thought this was a picture of a floofy, widdle duckling, but on closer inspection I noticed its unusual beak. Does anyone know what this exotic fluff-ball is?
