The people in the pictures below didn't have to do what they have done, but they still went out of their way to help these helpless animals who didn't know how to deal with certain situations. 

Your faith in humanity will be restored after seeing these pictures.

As far as we are concerned, they all deserve a medal. 

We searched through the most up-voted cat pictures on the popular subreddit r/cats, this week, and we decided to share them all with you!

The pictures all have one thing in common, and that is, of course, cats. However, that's where the similarities end. 

There are images of hilarious cats being hilarious, adorable-ness (naturally), and mourning and loss. We wanted to take a moment to appreciate the beauty of all these cats and remember those who have recently left us, they may be gone but never forgotten. 

This. Is. Amazing. 

This is exactly what needed to happen and has officially happened! And Wuhan took it even a step further, the Chinese city is to become a 'wildlife sanctuary' where virtually all hunting of wild animals is banned... well, with the exception of measures for "scientific research, population regulation, monitoring of epidemic diseases and other special circumstances".

But still, we consider this to be a huge step in the right direction. 

Wuhan, the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic announced the ban on May 20th, 2020, and as part of the ban, the city introduced stringent controls on the breeding of all wild animals, prohibiting any to be reared for food, CBS reported.

While the origins of the pandemic are still under investigation, one of the suspected sources is the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market in the city which included a live animal section reportedly selling more than 30 species of animals including live wolf pups, golden cicadas, scorpions and civets. China closed the market in January.

Humane Society International's China policy specialist, Dr Peter Li, said: "Wuhan's ban on wildlife consumption is extremely welcome as a clear recognition that the public health risk of zoonotic disease spread via the wildlife trade must be taken very seriously if we are to avoid another pandemic.

There will however be no less severe of a disease risk from wildlife consumption in five years' time, so anything short of a permanent and comprehensive ban is still a risk too far. Wuhan becomes the fourth city in mainland China to show such leadership, but we now need cities and countries across the world to step up to the plate and shut down the dangerous wildlife trade."

It's a beautiful day for frolicking in the dog park! Just kidding, no one is allowed out and we've been cooped up indoors for months now, and others for way longer... but where is your imagination? Regardless of our current whereabouts, one thing we can always count on is doggo memes to lift our spirits!

But this time it's the cat's turn.  

The stand-up comedian, Jake Lambert, and Jessica Atkins are the proud parents to three-year-old cat Richard Parker. 

Poor Richard is currently housebound due to a misfortunate foot injury. The couple wanted to cheer up their moggy a bit while in lockdown, so they came up with an idea to turn their house into a cat-sized art gallery.

Jake told Metro.co.uk: "Richard Parker isn't currently allowed out because he injured his foot. He seemed bored and so were we. We thought we could all do with some entertainment. All cats require a lot of stimulation, and we thought he might enjoy taking in some culture". 

That's it, we're moving down to Australia so we can hang out with Mystique, the humpback dolphin from Tin Can Bay on Queensland's Cooloola Coast.

Mystique is a unique pod who had recently developed quite a unique quirk -- a habit of bringing volunteers at the Barnacles Café and Dolphin Feeding centre an array of items each day! Apparently, this unusual habit began during the coronavirus pandemic while the tourists were staying home. 

Mystique is a 29-year-old male dolphin who has often displayed giving behavior but not to this extent.  Dolphin feeding volunteer Lyn McPherson said, "One male dolphin brings in objects on his rostrum, or beak, and then he carefully presents them to us." 

She says they reward him with some fish, "We haven't trained him, but he has trained us to do this."He gets under it [and] if he drops it too far out, or we say 'come on, that's not good enough', then he gets underneath it and brings it to us."The items have included bottles, big bits of timber, shells, and wood, which are brought in on his beak."We swear he has a collection waiting to bring to us," Ms McPherson said.

Since we've been closed to the public he has been doing it more and more. Sometimes he will bring 10, one at a time, and he will line them up as he has to get fish."

Now, that's a smart dolphin.

Meet the sweetest face, Shortcake! A Pit Bill rescued by Fresno Bully Rescue, which is a "volunteer-based, non-profit, no-kill rescue and shelter dedicated to rescuing bully breed dogs based in Central California."

So what's so special about Shortcake? Besides the fact that she has a following on Instagram of nearly 100k, Shortcake just has the sweetest smile that's so contagious, you can't help but smile back -- even through a picture! 

Her owner described her best in Shortcakes Instagram bio, "Shortcake, First of Her Name, Queen of Belly Rubs, Breaker of Gas, Mother of Naps, Eater of Poo."

In days when we can't travel physically, we are so grateful for the beautiful photos and videos shared by other people around the world. 

The Japanese photographer, Kazuki Ikeda, shared some stunning video and photos of a tranquil scene with Sika deer enjoying the cherry blossoms from in the empty Nara Park. 

People are absolutely in awe. 

The photographer was organizing a wedding photoshoot that day, but as far as we are concerned, the deer became the real stars.  

Oh man, so many things wrong with this and so much anxiety! Over the past week, one college student and Redditor, nexerxe, shared some disturbing news that rattled the animal-loving community... The Redditor's parents gave away the student's cat, Spotty, without telling them about it. 

How heartbreaking to find out your beloved pet was given away without you even knowing? We can't imagine. Unfortunately, that's what had happened. 

But our love for our pets is strong, so nexerxe decides to hunt Spotty down and with the help of the internet, they were able to track her down. Nexerxe then processed to set up a GoFundMe campaign to raise the funds needed to re-adopt Spotty. Ten selfless people chipped in to help raise the money needed so this broke college student can be reunited with their cat. 

We are so thrilled this messed up story has a happy ending! We have a soft spot in our hearts for those who will do anything for their furry friends.
