Seriously, why did biologists/linguists/etc. ever think "fowl" was a fair term for all kinds of squee bird friends? It's a word that sounds far too close to another word that does not describe them in any way at all!

Cowgirljules says: "The big one is a chicken, and was hatched two days ago. The small one is a quail who was hatched today."

Never have I considered a baby chicken to be a "big" squee animal... but comparatively speaking here, this chick really is gigantic compared to its quail counterpart!
