You may remember his impressive antics in the 2011 Best Picture-winning movie The Artist, but now he'll have to make those moves in doggie heaven.

Moviefone is reporting that the little Jack Russell Terrier named Uggie had to be put down Aug. 11 at the ripe old dog age of 13.

Uggie's owner/father, Omar Von Mueller, told TMZ it was a difficult decision to say goodbye to Uggie, but the tumor had left him suffering and the last few weeks were especially tough. Sarah Clifford trained Uggie and told TMZ he was "a perfect little terrier" with boundless energy. "I will forever hold him dearly in my heart and never forget his infinite love for chicken and hotdogs." Sniff.

Here's a compilation of his best bits from The Artist

Editor's Note: "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" did not earn a "Best Picture" nomination. We chose to include it because 1) we wanted to share two posters per weekday despite the fact that only nine films were nominated and 2) LOL ROONEY MARU!

Ohai, Moviecats! Join us all week long as we count down to the 84th Annual Academy Awards. Every day, we'll post two movie posters from films that earned a "Best Picture" nomination. Except that instead of the actual movie posters, we've recreated the original posters around the concept that MARU is the star!

And don't forget to join us over at ROFLrazzi on Sunday, Feb. 26, when we will be LOL-blogging the ceremony as it happens! The fun starts at 4:30 p.m. PST!

See MOAR "Maru at The Oscars" posters here!
