Although the chick was happy with human company, he was never happy being left alone so staff put the two together and they instantly snuggled up and fell asleep!"

I'm starting to think owls are very paranoid birds. It would explain why their necks have a 270-degree turn radius in either direction (which they use to compulsively look over their shoulders), and why they're often calling out "Who? Who?" It's all starting to make sense...
