Every four years people gather to watch the Olympic torch on its journey to the Opening Ceremonies. It's a tradition as old as time, but now it's time for a new one. Yes ladies and gentlemen, I am of course referring to the prestigious running of the Olympic Banana. This one is bound to catch on eventually, right?
According to a little-publicized clarification, an inadvertant twitch or flinch by a runner on the starting blocks in Running events can no longer be considered a false start.
Previously, such twitching or flinching could have resulted in disqualification at the discretion of the starter.
The little-publicised clarification by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) permits athletes to move in the starting blocks without being disqualified so long as their hands do not leave the ground or their feet the blocks.
